Speak up for Fair Water Billing

On Thursday, April 18, Wilmington City Council will vote on three laws to make water billing in Wilmington more fair and affordable. If passed, the laws would require the City of Wilmington to:

  • Stop using foreclosure to collect overdue water bills from homeowners

  • Stop shutting off water for overdue water bills when the family includes a senior, a disabled person, or a child under 5.

  • Hire an outside consultant to help Wilmington create a water rate system that makes water affordable.

Can you help?

Three ways to make a difference:

1) Send a letter

2) Come to the City Council meeting on April 18 at 6:30 PM in person or by zoom and speak up in support. Attend in person at 800 N. French St. or by zoom.

3) Contact your City Council member and ask them to vote YES on these laws. Click here to find City Council Member Contact Info.
